The 2026 East Bay Leadership Series concludes with a timely and forward-looking conversation featuring Secretary Leon Panetta, one of the most experienced and respected public servants in modern American history.
Unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the nation’s 23rd Secretary of Defense, Panetta brings more than five decades of leadership at the highest levels of government. His distinguished career includes service as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, White House Chief of Staff, Director of the Office of Management and Budget, and a longtime member of Congress representing California.
At the CIA, Panetta led the intelligence operation that brought Osama bin Laden to justice. As Secretary of Defense, he shaped U.S. defense strategy during a period of global transition, led critical counterterrorism efforts, and strengthened alliances around the world.
At a time of escalating global conflict, economic uncertainty, and consequential federal decision-making, this conversation will explore how international instability and national policy choices are shaping regional economies and communities. From supply chain disruptions and energy markets to workforce pressures and political risk, Panetta will offer insights on what today’s shifting landscape means for business, governance, and long-term resilience in the East Bay.
Join us on May 6 to be part of the conversation and engage with fellow leaders navigating an increasingly complex world.
