Join the East Bay Leadership Council for the third installment of the 2026 Capitol Series, featuring a Q&A conversation with Congressman Mark DeSaulnier.
With more than 30 years in public service, including 11 years in Congress, Congressman DeSaulnier brings experience in local, state, and federal government alongside firsthand insight as a longtime Bay Area small business owner. This breadth of experience has led him to engage on many of the issues shaping the East Bay’s economy and quality of life.
Congressman DeSaulnier serves on the House Committee on Education and Workforce, where he is Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions. His work has included issues such as access to education, workforce development, and pathways to economic opportunity.
He also serves on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, building on decades of work on transportation policy in California. Before coming to Congress, he chaired transportation committees in both the State Assembly and State Senate and helped champion major East Bay investments including the Highway 4 BART extension and the fourth bore of the Caldecott Tunnel. In Congress, he has continued to focus on public transit, transportation research and planning, congestion, and improving connections between where East Bay residents live and work.
At a time of rapid shifts in federal policy, funding, and the role of the federal government, we look forward to welcoming the Congressman for a discussion on the decisions being made in Washington, and their consequential implications for communities, employers, and public agencies across the East Bay.
